
Melissa Crystal O'Neil was born on July 12, 1988[1].] She is a Canadian actor and singer. O'Neil was the first Canadian woman to take home Canadian Idol's third season, which aired in 2005. O'Neil is primarily known as an actress due to her performances in the series Syfy as Two / Rebeccaand Portia Lin, and on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama The Rookie. She was voted in the bottom three and two of the finals. After being stunned, judges encouraged viewers to vote Melissa O'Neil, who was clearly the most active contestant. O'Neil's performances were consistently high-praised and O'Neil did not fall back to the bottom 3. Zack Werner, the judge, declared O'Neil "a chance to win everything". O'Neil, along with Rex Goudie made it to the finals on September 7th on the 7th of September in 2005. Werner, a judge famously said that the headlines of the following day's papers would be "The King [Kalan Porter] is dead. The Queen will live forever." At the grand finale's final results ceremony on September 14 in 2005, O'Neil defeated Goudie to be crowned the third Canadian Idol, as well as the first female winner, and (at 17) the youngest winner of the show's history.
