Awkwafina is an American actor and musician who started her career by performing clever rappers, which explored issues of race and sexuality with the most comical of perspectives. She then expanded into Hollywood. Her name is Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants in Forest Hills Queens her first taste of musician life came with the trumpet. After that, she took the classical and hip-hop genres. At college, she concentrated on her studies and majored in both journalism and women's issues. for a brief amount of time, she was in Beijing as well, she was also studying Mandarin. It wasn't until after graduating that she turned her attention to music. After making headlines on the Internet, her single My Vag was a reaction to Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually appeared on her album debut Yellow Ranger. The album included other sensational hits such as body-positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC Bitche$. The latter song was linked directly to her other venture, Awkwafina's NYC a travel guide published in the year 2015. As a musician and an author on her resume she determined to pursue acting in a third project. In addition to early shows like Girl Code and Tawk she has also appeared in films such as Neighbors 2. Storks and Bad Rap. She had a breakthrough role in the year 2018 when she appeared in a number of notable films like Dude Ocean's 8, as well as Crazy Rich Asians.
